It’s Over?

There’s no doubt about it. Being married is the best!

Yes, after over a year of wedding planning, I’m so happy to finally call Stephen my husband, and to look back on all the happy memories of our incredible day. Though it’s hard to describe, since our wedding, I’ve felt a closeness between us that is even stronger than what we experienced while we were engaged.

But even so, it feels somewhat surreal that the big event, the topic of so many discussions, and the reason behind countless hours of hard work, is now just a memory, preserved only in pictures, video footage, and our minds.

Going in, I knew our day would go by fast, but it went by FAST! And although I’m glad we did have a chance to really pause and take it all in, in the weeks that have followed, I’ve found myself caught up in the occasional longing to return to those euphoric moments, and to relive the celebration I had such a blast planning.

Married ladies, can you relate to feeling this way? Engaged girls, are you already shocked by how fast the time is flying by as you count down the months and days?

  1. May 21 marked our one year countdown and I am amazed that we are already down to 10.5 months! Where does the time go??

  2. I can't believe how fast it came and went. We watched our wedding video for the first time last night and I can't believe how much I actually missed from our ceremony on our wedding day.

Engaged ladies -- Definitely take the time to soak as much in as possible. It flies by!

  3. There are definitely parts of the planning that I miss but as of now I'm still really happy it's all over and that I have a lot more free time on the weekends and less to stress about. Maybe once I get more distance from it I'll feel differently.

I am however obsessed with looking at our wedding pictures though.

  5. Although there is no way that I ever want to plan another wedding I was just looking at photos with Pete yesterday and becoming a bit nostalgic. I kept thinking, it was such an awesome day... I want to do it again!

Hopefully now that we're married we'll enjoy weddings that much more so we're excited to start going to our friends' and families!

  6. I will probably feel the same after I'm married. I'm enjoying the planning and details and know I will miss it all. Time does feel like it's flying by! I can't believe we're in the middle of summer already and we have a little less than 10 months to go! :)

  7. Haha, yes! I am shocked at how quickly the time is flying, but I'm also excited to get married and not spend hundreds of hours doing craft projects anymore. I'm sure I'll miss our wedding when it's over, but there will be tons of new projects after that, like decorating our apartment and planning our honeymoon, which we will take at a later date.

  10. seriously, it goes by so fast, and everyone tells you that beforehand, but i guess i didn't realize how true it was. i can't believe i've been married for more than a month already! your pix are beautiful!

  11. I'm nervous about feeling that way once it's over. But then, I'm the type that tends to find a project and get totally absorbed in it. I think I'll always have a project to work on. And you have one too, right, planning for others now? So hopefully that will help with time :)

  12. I think I'll be happy to be done planning but I'm sure I'll be nostalgic of our wedding day once it's over. We're less than 100 days away and I can't believe how fast it's going by!

  13. I totally agree; it still feels surreal!

It went by SOOOOO fast, I couldnt believe it! Im so glad that we had a long honeymoon after the day as it kept the wedding celebration going till we had to get back to reality!

I totally agree - the wedding can't last long enough. I loved it and definitely miss it, esp. having all our friends and family with us (not sure about missing the planning part!)

  17. I swear for all the hassle and emotion and uncertainty that goes into a wedding, I seriously wish we could have our wedding day once a month...there's just nothing like it and I think there are so many things you can't truly savor or take in or experience and get to do in the chaos and speed of the day :(

Thank goodness for video and pics but I still say I am looking forward to a vow renewal one day :)
