Our DIY Invitation Inspiration

As the RSVPs steadily stream in, I’m happy to present our invitations! If you’re looking for an easy DIY kit that will help you create simple and classy invites, I definitely recommend those we picked up at Michael’s.

Created by Brides, the kits we went with cost just $40 per pack, and included ribbon (which we'll be using for another DIY project instead), 40 invitations and envelopes, as well as 40 response cards and envelopes. Looking for something more elaborate? The collection also includes options for invitations with pocket inserts and other fun details.

Here, all the goodies for our guests.

We found this paper, which matched the shade and texture of that used in the invite kit, at Paper Source, and also printed hotel information and directions on the back.

And the final products, all ready to go!

Don’t forget to have a finished invite weighed at the post office to make sure you use the correct amount of postage. Also, be mindful of any extra postage needed for invitations being sent out of the country.

Have you sent out your invites yet? Did you decide to DIY or go with professionally crafted cards?

  1. I love invitation kits -- that's what we used. They're easy, cheap, but can look gorgeous if you do them right -- which you did. They look beautiful!

  3. Those turned out very elegant and beautiful! I'm going to attempt to Gocco all of ours, but if disaster strikes and I can't manage it, I will definitely pick up some kits from Michael's. Great job!

  4. We got a great deal with a local graphic designer ($40 for STD, invite, reply, and thank you card design) and then did the rest by ordering the paper and envelopes wholesale. Saved a bunch and they look cute!

  5. I'm glad to know you used these with success. I was looking at them while searching for baby shower stuff a few weeks ago! Invitations, while they sort of set the tone for your guests, I don't want to spend a ton of money on them. They get mailed off, put on a fridge for a couple months, and then trashed. I can only hope that some people recycle them. Thanks for sharing! I hope our maps turn out as well!

  6. Everytime I walk past the Brides section of Michaels I think "the house I would have saved"... I'm glad we decided to go DIY but I think the kits are amazing!
