Down The Aisle: It’s (Wedding) Party Time

I’ve said it once and I’ll say a million times over. Our wedding party really came through for us on the wedding day, as they have in standing by us our entire lives. Though most of them are not Catholic and received only cursory instructions during the rehearsal, on the whole, they did a fabulous job remembering just what to do throughout the ceremony, including during the processional.

Since we took the unconventional step of having Stephen walk down the aisle escorted by his parents, followed by his best man, the start of our processional was a bit different than what you might be familiar with during a typical Christian ceremony. It's also different from the newly updated Catholic processional, where the bride and groom walk down the aisle together.

Check out our video clip, which was primarily shot from the church’s balcony. If my sister, the last one down the aisle, seems to be rushing a bit, it’s because the processional started while she and I were still in the restroom, making us both feel a bit rushed!

What will your processional be like?

  1. Love it! And the color of the bridesmaids' dresses is beautiful. We are still working out the processional, but I like the idea of the groom and groomsmen walking in from the side, and then the bridesmaids walking down individually before the bride.

  2. LOVE it!! I had my father walk me down the aisle, I did ask my Mom but she didn't want too, "that's not how you do it!" is what she said when I asked her....lol

  4. So nice! Our processional is: officiant (a friend of the family), followed by the groomsmen, then my fiance with his parents, then the bridesmaids and maid of honor, and finally me with both of my parents. The bridesmaids and groomsmen will walk together during the recessional :)

  5. I think it's neat that you did something non-traditional. And can I just say, I'm still in love with your bridesmaid dresses!
