Let Me Call You Sweetheart…

If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times. I love cruising!

Throughout our Hawaiian honeymoon, Norwegian’s Pride of America became a true floating resort, carrying us from island to island as we wined, dined and enjoyed the view.

Did I mention that we dined? A lot? If you’ve ever been on a cruise, you know exactly what I’m talking about. And if you’ve never been cruising, I definitely recommend it as a great way to travel! Not only is the food fabulous, but meals are also part of the all-inclusive price you pay for the trip, with add-on packages available for alcohol and soda.

Since this was our honeymoon, and our guests had showered us with so many great Honeyfund gift certificates, we decided to splurge a bit. In addition to wine tasting, sangria at sunset, and my swanky spa haircut, one of our favorite things to do was visit the ship’s several specialty restaurants. From Asian fusion to steak to Italian, these places were the best!

And the most fun part? Whenever the restaurant staff found out it was our honeymoon, they would gather around to sing “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” as they placed a “Happy Honeymoon” cake on our table! At the Asian restaurant, they even made us wear dragon costumes during the song. Too funny!

Did you get a lot of attention right after getting married or engaged? What do you think of cruising?

  1. I love cruising! Definitely my favorite kind of vacation. When the cruise director found out it was our honeymooon, he sent us some champagne, a ship on a stick, and some other trinkets. The head cruise director of Carnival also found it was our honeymoon and sent us a nice fruit basket and some champagne. Very sweet.

  2. I'm not a fan of cruising on principle... I'm an adventurer who loves to plan my own vacations, mostly while on them! I'm too spontaneous to have someone tell me when I have to be back on board. But what if I want to spend one more day here?!
Anyway - maybe I'll cruise and be converted :)

On another note, we got a free shot of chocolate mousse at a restaurant (that we had NO idea knew we were honeymooning) with "congratulations" - it was one of the sweetest, feel special moments of the trip.

  3. The cruise looks marvelous, though I don't think a cruise would fit my or my fiance's personal travel styles, since we both like to do things that are a bit off the beaten path when we travel. I think a cruise would be really relaxing though, and I'm assuming that on your honeymoon, you would want a more chill vacation as opposed to an adventure trip. Knowing us, if we do take a big honeymoon, we will find some way to balance the two, since we love exploring new places.

Love the dragon masks! I'm so happy the cruise ship made your honeymoon special and memorable.

  4. That second pic is hysterical!

I have never been on a cruise, but I really want to. It sounds amazing! Luckily, I am a fan of eating so I know I would fit right in. :)

  5. Ok, the masks are freaking awesome! So silly and great.

I wish we would have gotten more attention or perks on our honeymoon but we just traveled low key throughout Australia and Bali. When it did come up we were on our honeymoon, we'd get the obligatory congratulations but that was it.

The cruise - LOVE THEM! Like one of my favorite ways to travel...specifically for the all inclusiveness and the food! It's so yummy and there's such great variety. So glad you had a fun time.

  8. I'm more into exploring one place and the things around it than hopping on and off a boat. That said, my dad is a cruising addict - so I get the appeal :)

  9. Fab picture with the masks!

Im not really a fan of cruising as I agree with Hannah that I think I would feel restricted.

However, would love to try a luxury one like you did just once to see!

On our tour around Sri Lanka, we always got the best rooms since it was our honeymoon and fruit baskets etc. Also got lots of little happy honeymoon messages!

In the maldives, we got a free massage, sparkling wine, a fruit basket and an upgrade too!
