Rehearsal Dinner: An Italian-Style Dose of Family Fun!

After Stephen’s parents generously offered to host our rehearsal dinner, we sent them a list of a few restaurants in the area we thought might be fun yet still classy enough to reflect the significance of the occasion. Of course, the first options that popped into my head were all my favorite Mexican places! But, since we’re going with south-of-the-border entrees at the wedding, none of those hot spots will work.

What to do? Go Italian, of course!

Conveniently located right down the street from the church where we’ll be holding the rehearsal beforehand, Buca di Beppo is one of my all-time favorite quirky, family-style restaurants. From the infamous “pope room” to the hearty portions, my Italian roots have me feeling right at home in this place. Though our final menu for about 35 guests is still in the works, you can bet it will be complete with classics like bruschetta, chicken limone, and tiramisu for dessert. Yum!

If you’re holding a rehearsal dinner, where will it take place, and how formal will it be? Do you expect a large number of guests?

  1. Our final count looks like it's coming in right around 40 people for the rehearsal...wedding party members, their spouses and children only. Mr Fix It's parents also offered to host it and we went with Italian as well - the Old Spaghetti Factory in Newport Beach. They have a large banquet area upstairs that we will have mostly to ourselves which is perfect. It's yummy, casual, and will allow for movement among the guests. Just 13 more days to the rehearsal!

  2. This sounds perfect! We haven't worked out the logistics of a rehearsal dinner yet (it's not really done in my fiance's family and they will have a lot of people staying with them the night before the wedding). Also, if we invite all the out of town guests we may have about 100 people at the dinner - yipe!

I celebrated my 21st birthday at Bucca di Beppo. I'll always love that place!

  3. We have so many guests/family coming from out of town on Friday, and with our wedding being so small, we decided to do a BBQ @ my mom's house that night.

We ate @ a Bucca di Beppo in Indianapolis last summer and absolutely loved it! I wish we had one closer to us now.

  4. Haven't figured out the guest list yet (impatiently waiting for the in-laws to get back from Florida so we can solidify the plans) but we're doing tapas.

I love Buca di Beppo, but fiance just left work in an Italian kitchen, so he nixed it.

I have no idea how my rehearsal dinner is gonna be. I am thinking about something small... we will figure when it gets closer :-)

  8. I love this! We had our rehearsal dinner at a small restaurant in Sonoma County down the street from where we got married. It is called Kenwood Restaurant and Bar. We LOVED our rehearsal. So private and wonderful food:-)
