Maid’s Musings: Etsy’s Amazing Accessories

Kellie writes her own fashion blog, Playing Dress-Up, and runs Whatshername Vintage, an Etsy shop specializing in all things vintage. Most importantly, Kellie is Bicoastal Bride's maid of honor, and is very excited to be a part of her sister’s wedding planning!

As any fashion addict knows, accessories can make or break the outfit. Naturally, bridal fashions are not exempt from this all-important rule. No matter how grand your gown, or how stylish your shoes, it’s the little details that can take a look from “boring” to “beautiful.”

Compared with deciding on a dress and heels, accessory shopping is fairly simple, despite the wide range of possibilities you’ll have to consider. The top rule to keep in mind when selecting accessories is to always stay true to your personal style. If you’ve never been a girly-girl, don’t limit yourself to dainty pearls and floral accents.

If you’re an old soul with a love for vintage style, don’t force yourself to choose modern trends. Remember when shopping that the goal of accessorizing is to highlight your personality, not to pile on as many pretty jewels as is humanly possible. If it doesn’t match your personality, it’s not right for you!

If you’re not sure where to begin your accessory search, Etsy is a wonderful place to get started! This site is filled with handmade, unique jewelry and hairpieces in every style imaginable, and at reasonable prices. The only downside? There are so many products to look through! The task can be rather daunting for new users, and understandably so. To make it a bit easier, I’ve put together a quick list of my personal Etsy wedding favorites, organized by (of course!) personality types.

  1. I love etsy! I got my bracelet and earrings from etsy, though now I'm not sure if they are too "matchy-matchy" for my tastes. And I'm seriously considering buying that birdcage veil you posted :)

  3. I love all these things you found, Kellie, especially the triple strand crystal pearls! I know we agreed I don’t really need a necklace with my dress, but do you think they would match? :)

  5. I love the beaded cuff and the headband, although I think the headband is too cutesy for me overall. I have also just discovered Etsy and it is daunting to look through everything. I wish someone would do it for me. Lol. Great picks and I love how you put them in categories. I also love the fact that their accessories are unique.
