The Dress Quest: Fiancé’s Choice

No, I didn’t actually involve Stephen in helping choose my gown, since I’m excited to surprise him on the big day. But just for fun, after I had already chosen my dress, I set him loose on a couple websites to see if any of the styles he liked, or thought I would like, matched up with the gown I actually chose.

It turns out the styles he thought I would like – elegant, somewhat sleek, and with a long-but-not-outrageously-long train – were also the ones he found to be the most beautiful. Here, a couple of his choices.

Eager to know how he did? The big reveal is coming right up tomorrow! Did you involve your fiancé in choosing your gown?

  1. My fiance will not have any idea what I'm wearing until he sees me walk down the aisle! He has no clue if it's red, white, poofy, sleek, nothing! It's kind of fun! =)

I can't wait to see your dress reveal!

  2. I tried to show dresses to Ryan, but I would get really upset when he would dislike something I loved. So I finally said "f it" and picked out something that I feel beautiful in, and I'm crossing my fingers that he likes it! And if he doesn't, oh well, we have really different tastes anyway.

  3. Your fiance has great taste!! I did show my fiance one dress that I absolutely loved early in my dress shopping days and he liked it as well. But when I saw the whole thing in person, I didn't love it. Sometimes we watch Say Yes to Dress together and I love to hear his opinions on the brides. I am nervous and excited for him to see what dress I did finally choose.

  4. Steven made some great selections. Particularly the second one down is my favorite! After I bought my gown, I gave Mr Fix It a bridal magazine filled with pics of gowns and asked him to tell me if he liked any of them. He passed right over my gown which was a huge page in the mag and barely even commented on it...and I think he said he didn't like it. When he was all finished, I told him that my gown was in fact in that magazine. He didn't find one thing in it he liked (sigh). Go figure...stay tuned tomorrow for more of my frustration with him :)

  7. I didn't get him involved but later asked him what kind of dress he liked. He chose to respond by telling me the one thing he doesn't like and my dress happens to have it! In a million years I never would have guessed that he even knew about such details on dresses! Oh well... :)

  8. I like this post. I don't think my fiance really has an opinion about gowns. He is more excited to see me in the sari, which I will model for him before the wedding. I'm actually OK with him seeing my gown too. Saving it as a surprise isn't something that's super important to us, but I haven't flat-out shown him a picture of it yet :)

  9. He's got great taste! I involved M a little bit...basically I printed out a ton of different styles I loved and he gave me opinions on them. Of course my dress ended up being NONE of those dresses so I hope he loves it!

Looking forward to the big reveal! YAY!

  10. He picked out some great dresses! Most of the time Kristian will point out a dress he likes in a magazine and my reaction is "really? you like THAT?" Then one day he saw me looking at a blog and the bride was wearing a dress VERY similar to mine and he said he thought my dress probably looked like that. I responded "well you'll have to wait and see"
