A Little ‘Love’ in the Shade…

Try as I might to protect my skin, I’ve spent far too many a beach day or summer winery outing nursing a sunburn. And since my fair complexion rivals Snow White’s, no matter how much sunscreen I slather on, more often than not I end up with a glowing red lobster look if I’m in the sunlight for half an hour or more.

Of all the things that could go wrong on my wedding day, this is honestly the one I’m most worried about, especially since we’ll be taking photos outdoors at a botanical garden before the ceremony even begins. One fun solution? A cute hand-painted parasol that can also double as a great prop for photos!

I just love this classic-looking beauty I snagged from iDoOriginals on Etsy for $42. Of course, I’ll still hit up the SPF 80 beforehand, but this will at least help keep the direct sunlight off my face and shoulders, while letting us get some playful shots with our photographer.

Are you using a parasol or other photography props on your wedding day? Do you have any big worries or concerns on your mind?

  3. i love the parasol idea! you don't want to get sunburn that day, of all days. plus, the parasol would look so cute in pictures.

  4. Oh trust me...this has been a huge worry for me as well. I'm going to be in glaring tropical sun for several days before the wedding and in preparation, I'm loading up with SPF 70, which is about 50 SPFs higher than I'm used to.

    That parasol is adorable!

  5. I love that parasol! I really need to cruise over to Chinatown one of these days to pick some up. I'm thinking yellow for my girls and white for me. Your pics are going to turn out great!

  6. I wish I did!!! Great parasol!
(There are one or two fun pics with hubby and I wearing sunglasses, and an awesome one of us and our doggie with my bouquet in front of her!)

Suppose a dog could be considered a prop?

  8. I'm sure you will be so beautiful on your wedding day! And even the sun can't ruin that wonderful day for you! But the umbrella is a nice idea.
