But while I know my disdain for this season is especially high compared to most others’, I must say I’m always stunned by how many people honestly prefer snowy, cold weather to the heat of summer, arguing that when it’s cold, you can simply put on more layers.
Me, shivering during last year's massive blizzard.
But to me, that’s a big part of the hassle, as I simply hate having to put on my coat, scarf, hat, gloves and boots before going outside, taking them all off again when I go inside, not to mention lugging them around with me all day. Plus, though summer’s storms can certainly be violent and damaging, they are typically over quickly and easy to wait out. They also don’t normally cause six-hour traffic jams and the truly treacherous conditions that left drivers cold and stranded on the side of the road during last week’s snowstorms. What do you think? Am I truly in the minority here? Is it better to be hot in the summer or cold in the winter?

In all honesty....I hate being too cold or too hot! I LOVE spring and fall for that matter, it's just the perfect weather minus the rain haha
ReplyDeleteI despise the winter and snow is a hassle since I still have to go to work or at least work from home. I never get real snow days. My fav seasons are Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter in that order.
ReplyDeleteI've lived in California my entire life so I'm not sure if my vote counts, but I'll weigh in anyway! Summer is so much better. I grew up in the East Bay where it wasn't uncommon for the temps to reach 105 in the summer. Then I went to college at UC Davis where that number kicked up to 110. And I loved it. Now I live in San Francisco, where it's almost always 60 degrees and foggy, no matter what the season. I miss warm weather so badly it hurts. When the temperatures drop below 60, I'm absolutely miserable. I could never live on the East Coast!
ReplyDeleteI am sooo with you on this one Heather. I hate the cold with a passion hahaha
ReplyDeletei can't handle the cold. a 55 degree winter is cold enough for me ;)
ReplyDeleteI hate, hate, HATE the cold!! I moved to the South thinking that the winters would be milder. There might not be as much snow, but it's still just as cold! Hopefully it'll all warm up soon!
ReplyDeleteAs a California resident, I can tell you that I don't miss the cold weather I grew up with on the east coast. The trade off, however, is that we have terrible, TERRIBLE traffic the whole year round. When it takes an hour to go 5 miles, it can really make you think twice about where you live and you definitely start to question how much the sunny weather is worth.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the cold...at first. I welcome the change in the beginning, I like being all snuggly and drinking hot chocolate by a fire around the holidays but by around mid January...I'm done. From then until is starts warming up in March..THAT's when I'm most miserable. So..I like the cold, I just wish it was around for a shorter time. I miss running outside sooooo much!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big fan of either extreme but I have to say I prefer the cold over the heat! I complain so much when it gets too hot, but I don't complain as much during the winter because all I have to do is add an extra layer. You can only remove so much clothing during the hot, humid NYC summers! My ideal weather is during the Fall and Spring.
ReplyDeleteNeither! I may prefer the cold over heat though. My sense of temperature is off though since I've been living in this tropical country for a few months.
ReplyDeleteJoin the club! I would love to live in San Diego! Sighs wistfully*
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL!

I love the spring and summer the most! I'm from Florida so I'm used to the heat and humidity. I prefer not having to wear layers!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the sun and any heat; not helpful when you live in Scotland really and probably the reason we love to go on holiday somewhere warmer.
ReplyDeleteI cant imagine why people would prefer to be cold rather than hot at all!
