But because I don’t want the difficulties of the past two months to define what this place means to me, I'm using this week to focus on the happier times, including the ones seen in the images below. Say what you will about Congress and politics, since I have my criticisms, too, but at the end of the day, I know I'm very lucky to have worked here, playing a role in a way that was meaningful to me and hopefully to at least a few others, as well.
When all is said and done, I've had the time of my life, and I know things can only get even better from this point on, even though change can be so hard. I'll always remember...
Attending meeting and events in the fabulous new Capitol Visitors Center...
Working hard, but also taking time out to laugh and have fun with my coworkers...
Giving Capitol tours to constituents and visiting friends...
Visiting the White House for a fantastic West Wing tour and meeting with Bush Chief of Staff Andy Card...
And so much more. Have you ever faced losing or leaving a job? How did you say goodbye?

Looks fab, I would love to visit there some day!
ReplyDeleteIt was hard when I left my job in March since I was made redundant; I have kept in contact with some people who were my close friends there too.
But since there was nothing I could do about I just got on with wedding planning and used the time I had off to do the rest of my wedding stuff.
You have a great attitude to it and as you say a change is good sometimes too!
My brother loves working at the Capitol.
ReplyDeleteWhen I left my first job that I had after college after almost 4 years it was hard. Even though I had chosen to leave and was excited to leave it was hard leaving behind my coworkers/friends.
Good for you, lady. At times like this, it's always best to focus on the positive. I left my first law job ever (because I was fired - yipe!), but it ended up being the best thing ever for me. I was sad at the time, but luckily I never had an emotional attachment to the first place. I love where I am now, and I have no doubt you'll love where you end up.
ReplyDeleteI've been working for the same company since I graduated from college four and a half years ago. I'm sure if/when I do move on, I'll feel sad.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your next endeavor!
You should be so proud of yourself for all of the hard work that you have done, and everything that you have accomplished.
ReplyDeleteThis is just another step along the road to lead you to where you are meant to go!
Hey doll! It's exciting that you can say another beautiful chapter in your life has been completed while the rest of your story is yet to unfold! i'm so excited for what the future holds and know you will make the most of it as you have done with your years on the hill!
ReplyDeleteLet's do an HH soon after the holidays :)
Good luck lady. I've worked in my office since college and I don't know how I would handle it! You seem to be doing it with grace and that is wonderful. This will definitely open the doors to even more wonderful things in your future!
ReplyDeletelooks like such a fun place to work. sorry you have to leave, but here's to a new chapter :)
ReplyDeleteit's definitely hard but glad you're focusing on the good. We know great things will await you dear!
ReplyDeleteAt least you'll always have those fabulous memories of your time working there! And hopefully the next chapter of your life will be exciting and wonderful too, and you'll end up even happier.
ReplyDeleteI just left my job as well! Leaving to work in NYC, fiance in tow. Congrats to you on the next big step and an exciting change! Good luck and all that great stuff :)
