That’s why, shortly after our wedding, I was especially excited to have my first ever one-on-one meal with Stephen’s dad, who comes to town often for business meetings. This laid-back Thai luncheon gave me a much-needed break from the hectic office, and even more importantly, gave me a chance to really talk and connect with my father-in-law in a more personal way.
And now, this week, both Stephen’s mom and dad are paying us a visit, along with his sister, who is actually planning to move down from NYC. I’m looking forward to a lot more family time in the future!
Have you been able to spend much time with your current or soon-to-be in-laws, either one-on-one or with your husband/fiance?

Nope, in-laws and I do not mix :/
ReplyDeleteThat's great that you get along with your in-laws so well! Mine are wonderful, too. My fiance's sister is actually my age, and she and I have grown pretty close, though I see her a lot less now that she moved to Baltimore.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week with the in-laws! Mine are great as well. I am very thankful for this since they only live two hours away and we see them more often than my family.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a great time. :) I've always thought that getting connected one-on-one like that with the new family is important. I've hung out with both of my sisters-in-law one on one before and with my father-in-law for a brief time too. And my husband has spent time with each of my brothers and also my dad. It kind of makes it seem like the whole "in-law" part doesn't even exist anymore and they are just regular family.
ReplyDeleteKristian's parents live only 20 minutes away so we see/talk to them quite a bit and they are great people. I really get along well with both of them which makes life much easier. He gets along well with my family too.
ReplyDeleteThat's so nice! My soon-to-be in laws just live a few hours away so we get to see them every few months or so. I don't have a one-on-one relationship with them (yet) but it's nice that my fiance and I are able to spend time with them together. Because we live close to my parents, my fiance has a good one-on-one relationship with my parents, which is awesome.
ReplyDeletehow great to have inlaws that you get along with :)
ReplyDeleteHow nice! Make sure you get plenty of visiting time with your sister in law lol. NYC is one of my fav cities!
ReplyDeleteNot really, my mother-in-law lives in Nigeria (We live in Austria) and my father-in-law passed away a few years ago. After the wedding my mother-in-law stayed for a while with us after the wedding and she's adorable.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you get along well with your in-laws. It makes life a lot easier.
It's so refreshing to hear about other newlyweds who actually like their in laws! I adore mine too, actually almost more than my own parents!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE my hubby's dad but his mom takes some getting used to! LOL However, he gets along with my parents smashingly .....we are kind of a wild bunch who love to play games, play games on each other...you get the point! haha
